Nathan Rhys Stephens, United Kingdom (1988)

back to overview

Nathan is a three times paralympian who competed in both ice sledge hockey and athletics. During the 2006 Winter Paralympics at Turin he represented the Great Britain ice sledge hockey team. In 2008 he took part in the Summer Paralympics at Beijing. Three years later, Nathan won Gold at the Paralympic Athletics World Championships in New Zealand in F57 javelin. He followed this up by recording a world record, at the Czech Athletics Open with a distance of 41.37 meters. So going to the London 2012 Summer Paralympics as a world champion, expectations were high. He didn’t measure up, though. Due to a controversial official’s decision he was red flagged twice for an illegal technique and didn’t move to the final round.
